This is first, and foremost an ‘avoid as many allergens, and additives as you can’ website. This is the explanation for the simplicity of a lot of my recipes. This, and of course the beautiful quote, attributed to Leonardo Da Vinci, 'Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication'.
It is mostly vegan, with some recipes having eggs in them, in the desserts section. Making them ovo-vegetarian. (The vegan versions will be coming soon.) These are some of the most common allergens that I do not use in my recipes.
Therefore you will not find in my recipes: GLUTEN, DAIRY, SOY, SHELLFISH, PEANUTS, SESAME , or MEAT. Absolutely no ingredients with ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS or PRESERVATIVES, or the very ambiguous NATURAL FLAVOR, often hiding MSG.
I want to help you to prepare easy, and tasty meals with no worries, that all family members can enjoy. I want to save you the headache to prepare them, and definitely the headache after you ate them. I am also planning to write blog entries about additives, often hiding in plane site. Yes, I have been there myself many times.
So nowadays, I am living the best I can, cooking simple, nutritious and most of all, most common allergens free recipes. There are a few recipes with eggs, also a common allergen, they are clearly marked. I do have recipes with nuts, especially in the dessert section. So if any particular nuts are problematic for you, pls. check it carefully, when choosing the recipes. Sometimes, followers of a new diet, can restrict their food choice to a few ‘acceptable’ choices.
Please note, that often, if a food item is very frequently eaten, it could cause allergy in the long term. Cooking and baking everything with almond flour, using eggs in every recipe, could contribute to long term allergies.
Organic, non-GM, food in its natural state, has the highest chance not to contain problematic ingredients. I strongly advise You, Dear Reader, to have an allergy test done, at an allergist MD’s office. Skin prick tests, and blood IgE tests, are the best predictors of the most serious type of allergic reactions.
Please know yours, so that you can avoid those! Wheat and gluten found their way into a lot of prepared meals and beauty products. It is an additive, as well as a contaminant.
Contamination can occur, when large scale production lines are not cleaned between beaches of food, with and without gluten. If the product does not say it is gluten-free, and if you are allergic to gluten, then you can consider it unsafe for you. Fortunately, a many companies are conscious about gluten and allergens in general.
